Historically important - When preservation is paramount

A project within a building of listed status, or national importance, isn’t just about preserving the fabric of the building. The contents count too. We sympathetically restore antique cast iron radiators. While retaining as much, if not all, of their unique and original parts and characteristics.

From cathedrals to palaces

We have restored radiators in prominent heritage buildings, including Buckingham Palace, Leicester Cathedral, and Manchester University. As well as many private homes.

As the preferred supplier for Historic Royal Palaces, we have helped create their guidelines for restoring cast iron radiators.

HOME RADIATOR RENOVATION

How we help

Pressure testing

Specialist equipment identifies weak points or a leaking seal. We fill the radiator with water or air under pressure, and take measurements. If the pressure drops, or something is escaping from where it shouldn’t, there’s a problem. Perhaps a weak point or a leaking seal. This test can be done on-site or in our workshop.

It's essentially a way of catching porosity, casting flaws, or poor seals before the radiator leaves our workshop. The radiator is left pressurised for a period of time to confirm there’s no slow leak.

Seal Replacement

We dismantle radiators to stop leaks and replace the seals in between the sections. This does not include cosmetic work such as blast cleaning or repainting.

Refurbishment

Cosmetically overhauling a radiator by:

  • Removing all traces of existing surface finish and residue, including paint and rust, through shotblasting. This aggressive process is essential when creating a strong foundation for a well-finished radiator.
  • Carefully relocating and replacing bushes.
  • Renewing bleed valves.
  • Meticulously spray painting at least three coats of high quality, high temperature paint, exclusive to trade. Or as many coats as it takes for the perfect finish.

This process does not include separating sections or replacing seals.

Renovation

This labour intensive service includes:

  • Completely dismantling your radiator into its component parts.
  • Stripping away the existing paint and rust through shotblasting.
  • Replacing all seals and gaskets.
  • Replacing bleed valves and joining nipples to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Expertly rebuilding the radiator.
  • Beautifully re-painting it in the colour of your choice.

Mixed Service

When a radiator comes in for refurbishment, sometimes a problem crops up. Perhaps a pressure test uncovers a leaking seal. Or there’s a noticeable crack in a section of the radiator.

To help save you money, we suggest a thorough refurbishment and seal replacement service. The focus is to fix and replace only those parts which are damaged or not working. This ensures your radiator operates efficiently and reliably.
